The four profiles (budget, moderate, comfortable, premium) were built by the AluguelSP team from the actual rent ranges of the 20 São Paulo neighborhoods we track — from R$1,200/month for a kitnet in República to R$9,000+ in Jardins or Itaim Bibi — plus current local prices for food, transport, utilities, leisure and health insurance. These are São Paulo numbers, not recycled national averages.
How to read your result: the classic newcomer mistake is budgeting only the rent. In our profiles, housing is 40–50% of the total — the rest (building fees, groceries, ride apps and the nightlife this city charges dearly for) is what blows the budget by month three. The city comparison uses rough cost-of-living multipliers (NYC ≈ 3.9x SP, London ≈ 2.9x, Lisbon ≈ 2.2x) — good for order of magnitude, not for exact planning.
